Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of the most prevalent of the cannabinoid compounds found in cannabis, along with THC. However, unlike THC, this compound is not psychoactive, meaning it does not cause individuals to feel “high.”
What CBD has been shown to do is serve as an effective therapeutic agent to alleviate the symptoms of many physical and mental health conditions, including insomnia and poor sleep.
If you’re among the many people who don’t wish to smoke cannabis to get the benefits of CBD, you’re in luck – you’ll find a wide variety of ingestible CBD products that are easily incorporated into your daily routine.
Jump to a Bedtime CBD Recipe:
While you can consider trying a CBD gummy or capsule, we love CBD oils and tinctures because you can mix them right into your favorite foods and beverages. If you’re using CBD for sleep, you might want to consider making a relaxing CBD drink to help promote a good night’s sleep. Creating your own bedtime drinks with CBD drink recipes is one of the most soothing ways to use CBD for sleep. If you’re finding it hard to fall asleep or stay asleep, a CBD drink may help.
CBD Drinks for Sleep
It’s important to note that when you make CBD drinks for sleep, the ingredients you use are critical. You’ll want to find a high-quality CBD oil or tincture and avoid including alcohol, caffeine, and other mind-altering ingredients in your drinks. Also, many CBD products are full-spectrum, which means they are created using hemp products that have trace amounts of THC (under 0.3% by federal law). While they won’t cause you to feel high, you may be able to experience additional benefits due to the synergy between these cannabinoids and other cannabis compounds like terpenes and flavonoids.
Here are a few of our favorite sleepytime CBD drink recipes.

CBD Dosing: How Much Should I Use?
Now that we’ve covered some of our favorite CBD drinks for sleep, you may be curious as to how much CBD oil you should use. Both oil products and tinctures can be used to mix CBD with liquids, though tinctures are usually taken at higher concentrations compared to oils.
Overall, CBD oil usage depends on various factors, as well as what you’re using CBD for.
Health Conditions
If you have an anxiety or sleep disorder, you may want to consider using 25 to 75 milligrams of CBD a day. However, for more intense conditions such as PTSD, you may want to use 33 to 50 milligrams of CBD. These numbers can increase tremendously if you’re dealing with severe anxiety or pain, as you may consider using anywhere from 300 to 600 milligrams of CBD to manage your condition.
Your overall health will determine how much CBD you should incorporate into your drinks. Various factors like weight, existing medications, and more can influence how much CBD you should use when making drinks.
Is Too Much CBD a Problem?
Generally speaking, people can tolerate up to 1,500 milligrams of CBD per day. However, everyone is different, and tolerance levels can certainly vary. That said, because the stigma around cannabis and CBD is fading, people are only now beginning to perform research to determine ideal doses of CBD for various conditions and assess any side effects. If you were to ingest too much CBD for your tolerance level, you may start to experience appetite changes, fatigue, and more. This is why starting slow and working your way up is more effective if you’re just starting out.
Take Your Time
You might have had sleep problems for years at this point and are ready to make your CBD drink of choice to improve your sleep. However, due to the issues mentioned above, it’s important not to overdo it when your goal is improved sleep. Remember to take your time when first trying CBD for sleep so you can identify the best dose for your needs.
We recommend you use a small dosage, such as five milligrams of CBD, then add an additional five milligrams until you notice improvements. Once you experience this, stop increasing and see if you continue to get better sleep. Remember, the general assumption is that 25 mg may be ideal for the average person wanting to get better sleep, but your results will be unique to you.
Calculating CBD Oil Dosage
Dank Budz offers CBD tinctures containing various amounts of CBD. The convenient dropper lid enables you to measure easily, given the information on the labeling.
For instance, if you consider our Broad Spectrum CBD in Hemp Oil (500mg), you would learn that there is 8.3 mg per ½ dropper serving. Our 250mg bottle option would have half of this amount, as both bottles are one oz. If you wanted 15mg of CBD oil, for example, you could use a full dropper from the 500mg bottle to reach that amount.
While this may seem confusing, you can always reach out to us for support. Alternatively, you can simply add a small amount to your beverage each day until you notice sleep improvements. At this point, you can then stick to this amount without needing to recalculate.
